FTX Global test

Hi there!
eventually ftx global arrived on saturday and i went to download and install it right away. both went fine after some while. no probs with the installation. download time was a bit slow, but no surprise on release date.
integrated really well into fsx and no hang-ups.

i was so curious how its gonna look like and i must say: its a beauty! flying low and high, it´s really a big plus. not as much patterns as before. better colors. fields and crops look stunning. cities have the right shape and atmo. tested Frankfurt, Paris, Sao Paulo, Denver. Especially in Sao Paulo the city no longer looks like a small town but like the megacity it is.
buildings and roads fit perfectly. the weather themes are of no need for me since i use rex ess.plus.

but....:

a really big minus are the framerates. as you can see i have a big machine. overclocked just for fsx. a nvidia titan overclocked as well. but with the settings they gave out in the handbook, it´s a no-go to fly. stuttering? really? so i went to the fsx.cfg and downsized the numbers of houses and tress dramatically. improved the fps significantly. seems like they just put too many houses in it. if you fly low and slow it could work. but my twotter is just for short runs in a break since i fly airbus x extended most of the time and desperately waiting for pmdg777. at their speed 19-23 fps instead of 30 fps limited is really bad. i understand their intention to make it a complete software even for future pc configs. but you have to adjust it on your own in the fsx.cfg. after having done that....it´s a beauty again.

Update: In the ftx global config tool, dont use ftx trees. They look really nice but make the fps drop sharply. For IFR it is of no need anyway. I found out that the "pictures" of the buildings look so realistic that there is actually no benefit of having 3d models at all. But again, i fly IFR high and fast most of the time.

unfortunately, without landclass files, which will be provided seperately and later this year, many regions still look empty and deserted. (some of that was fixed in the latest update 1.1 e.g. southwest of the U.S.A.)
i know it was written by orbx in the description. i just think for the amount of money it could have been implemented already.
the thing is, nowadays i find it hard to criticize, cause as a hard core simmer like me, you gotta be thankful for any addon that comes to life. freeware is often full of flaws. but i always appreciate the hard work that was put into it without being paid for and therefor my crticizm isn't harsh. but am i allowed to say what i don't like with some payware i paid for? i think so. but many sites delete any form of criticizm in their forums. it's just horay to it all. tip of the hat for all freeware developers. for sure.
