P3Dv2 ....IMO

Well...
If you ask me: should i buy P3Dv2 or not and the only answers allowed are yes and no: It´s a NO.
Not yet would be the right answer though. And i will try to give you the reasons why i spoil the party of those who think they can trash FSX.

• The upmost downside of P3Dv2 at the moment is, it only has a fake fullscreen mode. Yes, you heard right. So this alone makes it really hard to believe to be the new star on the horizon
• AA ingame is a shame. Looks really cheap and far far away from the high fsx settings
• fps/framerates: if you like easy standard small props it´s a good experience. Just don´t use heavyweights like Airbus X or any other sophisticated payware aircraft. You will be disappointed. Frames drop sharply ingame if you set the settings as high as in fsx. Autogen popping is not the be seen anymore, but the price of it is obvious.
• Menue setup is not organized. Why can´t i reach the setup sliders from the start screen, but only within the game
• Bumpy menue response

 to sum it up: It just doesn´t look finished yet. I like the feel with the bonanza over a medium autogen and medium clouds and medium resolution and medium....if i wanted medium, i´d go and eat a steak. in FSX my rig is able to give me max. crisp not fuzzy, fluent AND stable. I tweaked so much in FSX that i got tired of it. Now i just enjoy flying FSX and let others try to tweak P3Dv2. I just thought it would be more ready, higher settings and better use of all the hardware. It´s not.Not yet at least.

Now go ahead and bash me. And tell me you maxed out the sliders and get 90 fps.stable. That AA is brilliant...

Airbus X update coming

There is a new update for the fab Airbus X coming. As you can read in their forum it will have some cool updates and fixes. Brg/dist will now update constantly e.g..MultiCrewExperience will now be implemented. So if you wish you can communicate to ground, atc and first officer through your headset with mic. Can't wait to get it.

Orbx: Major product announcement coming this weekend

Just a heads up that we are planning a major product announcement hopefully by this weekend if we finalise all business agreements and the alpha build. It is another global product with a single installer that will dramatically change the whole sim experience when used in conjunction with FTX Global.

We will have screenshots, details and also announce a free demo which is an entire country using the new product + openLC in harmony.

it runs stable on my machine (I7 3770k at 4.7 GHz, H100Watercooling, Geforce Titan). but please!!! don't just copy and paste the fsx.cfg. My graphics card is different from yours. My screen is different. So use the values please, but don't copy the whole thing and wonder why your fsx doesn't work anymore. thx

what you should have to run fsx smooth with 30 fps:
I7/I5 at 4.5 GHz or above
nvidia gtx 670 or above
fsx on SSD

Remember to save standard flight as an original aircraft from fsx, no addon. it´s important!!! bufferpool=1 is perfect for fast hardware. Don´t believe anything else! FTX Global is installed as well as REX ess.OD and Mytraffic X Professional with 30 % traffic. Save fsx.cfg and make a backup before trying my settings. Remember to turn hyperthreading off in the bios. Set to use only 3 cores there as well.

update: what a chaos! my order is processed for hours. the money is paid. but no download link. not in my pmdg profile menu, not in an email. it's unbelieveable how bad this release is being handled. i have bought many many addons, many of them were much anticipated. but they all made it to give me a download link after i paid. and as i read in some forums i am by far not the only customer complaining. 

a totally frustrated customer. 

to make it worse: avsim login denied. so no support at all. no email address of the support team. nothing. thx

FTX Global test

Hi there!

eventually ftx global arrived on saturday and i went to download and install it right away. both went fine after some while. no probs with the installation. download time was a bit slow, but no surprise on release date.

integrated really well into fsx and no hang-ups.

i was so curious how its gonna look like and i must say: its a beauty! flying low and high, it´s really a big plus. not as much patterns as before. better colors. fields and crops look stunning. cities have the right shape and atmo. tested Frankfurt, Paris, Sao Paulo, Denver. Especially in Sao Paulo the city no longer looks like a small town but like the megacity it is.

buildings and roads fit perfectly. the weather themes are of no need for me since i use rex ess.plus.

but....:

LOD fsx.cfg

raised LOD to 10 instead of 4.5 or 6.5
still smooth 30 fps

reason: reinstalled fs global ultimate. installation is a pain in the ass...but so much worth it!

FSX and autogen popping

I guess i am not the only one who always got annoyed by the massive autogen popping since RTM became SP1 and 2.

And i just recently gave up the hope, some magic would happen and i would recieve an email with the fixed code attached to it.

but....

i found a way to be happy again. My thought was: how could autogen become scenery. If so, it would not pop-up as massive as autogen and you could see buildings in the far distance, far out of the circle around the aircraft. just limited to the smallpartreject figure.

i tried to find a way to save the autogen while airborne...silly me.(but hey, i was really frustated).

in the end, all those weird thoughts and searches made me find a programm i should have remembered first caused i was using other software from this guy already.

Airbus X Extended fps "tweak"

For those of you who love the AXE (like me :-)) but don´t get enough fps....kill the view bars in the config panel right of the throttles...about 2-5 fps extra without them...
...unless you want to view the birds instead of flying a plane

don´t forget....use control + O for pan view....

after struggling many years with the settings in fsx i had enough. 

first i tried bojote: shifted my fsx from no-go to not so bad anymore

then came Kosta: another move forward. even the best tweaks i came across. but his article about the gtx 580/680/Titan comparison infected my mind...

...and i went out to buy:

installed all addons i had (e.g. aerosoft airbus x extended; GSX; REX; FSPassenger; etc) and did Kostas Tweaks in the fsx.cfg. just for fun i turned all settings in the fsx to max....wow!!! finally 30fps stable in real weather or thunderstorm on maxed out airport settings and 80% woai traffic (all gates busy). 30fps up in the air with 2048 clouds no dx5. 

It's a real eye opener. finally fsx looks like it should have done all the way. I7 is overclocked to 4.5 and hyperthreading turned off. Geforce Titan has even standard settings. It flies through the clouds like it doesn't seem to care...30fps limiter on. amazing.

love it...the sun options, sky in beautiful colours, clouds in HD...all working fine.

If anyone has FPS problems with it....turn of the "sun+flare" option in REX. increases th FPS by 5-10 and doesn´t make any difference....sun is still spectacular and clouds can be 1024/dxt5 and still high FPS.

after turning "sun+flare" to off in REX my FPS jumped5 fps up

Airbus X Extended

I bought in the meantime the Airbus X Extended...was a bit anxious it wouldn´t meet my ideals....i was wrong...
AEX is the best Airbus out there. It has a decent depth and it´s really nice in- and outside. I love the Checklists and the Co-Pilot. Never wanna fly without.
